 Registration Information

FULL-DAY KINDERGARTEN WILL BE OFFERED FOR THE 2016-2017 SCHOOL YEAR

Who: Families who have a child who will be five years old on or before September 1, 2016


What: Contact your child's school to provide your email and phone number to receive information about upcoming registration dates. Schools will contact families after winter break.


Fees: The Board of Education is expected to approve fees for the 2016-2017 school year in January or February 2016. 


When: Online registration will open in February. Two "Drop in/Drop Off" dates, when parents come to the district Center to provide proof of residency and their child's birth certificate, will be held in February.


More information about full-day kindergarten: 


Full-day kindergarten students attend school the same hours as our first through fifth grade elementary students, from 8:40am to 3:25pm, and have the same options as older students for:


Transportation: Use the Address Finder to see if you are eligible for free bus service. If you choose to pay for bus service, that fee will be due on July 1. 


Milk: Students who purchase milk will be able to take a carton of plain, 1% milk. There are no other milk options available. This is a District fee, due on July 1. 


PTO Activities: Lunch ordering, before-school care and after-school enrichment will be available to kindergarten families through the PTOs. Look for information from your PTO over the summer and throughout the school year. 


After-School Club: The Deerfield Park District offers after-school care at each elementary school. Visit the Park District website for more information and registration.)



Online registration for new students is as easy as 1-2-3! 


1. Complete online enrollment application/s:


2. Print completed application and 2-3 supplement documents.  

3. Set up registration appointment to review application/s and verify residency* and birth certificate** documents (see below for details).



REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION FOR ENROLLMENT:
  • *Residency Documents Required:
ONE (1) of the following
      • Property warranty deed/title (please, no mortgage/HUD documents)
      • Current property tax bill
      • Signed lease and proof of recent payment
AND

TWO (2) of the following (showing current property address)
      • Driver's license
      • License plate registration
      • Voter registration
      • Auto insurance card/statement  
      • Electric, gas or water bill/statement (no cable or phone)
  • ** BIRTH CERTIFICATE REQUIREMENT:
    • ORIGINAL birth certificate  (a copy will be made and the original returned to you)

If you would like information about the on-site after-school care programs at the elementary schools, please contact the Deerfield Park District. For information about before-school care, contact the school's PTO.

What’s Next? A Timeline to Kindergarten

Here is a timeline of what to expect after you register your child: 


End of March: You will receive an email from your child’s school to register for your Kindergarten Round Up time slot.


End of April: We will send information about the status of half-day kindergarten (location, am/pm sections and hours, etc.). 


Early May: Kindergarten Round Up at your child’s school.


Mid-May: Fee letter for 2016-2017 school year emailed to all families. This letter will include specific information about payment plans for kindergarten tuition. 


July 1: District fees due (including the first installment of full-day kindergarten tuition, if you choose a payment plan). 


Mid-August: Teacher placements posted on Family Access. 

You’ll also receive information from your building principal and the PTO during the summer about events and activities planned at your child’s school.
